The Planar/Cylindrical Near-Field Range (NFR) consists of a planar and cylindrical near-field range that can scan over an approximate 10' X 20' planar area or scan a 10' vertical plane in conjunction with a +/- 180 degree azimuth scan when using cylindrical mode. It features precision stepper motor control with a Z-plane laser sensor for post data processing correction of planarity errors.

The frequency of operation is limited by absorber at the low end to 1120 MHz and 40 GHz on the high end.

The NFR is a 21'x21'x12' anechoic chamber. For added convenience, the chamber allows access through a 10'x12' roll-up overhead door. The chamber is covered in 12" and 24" pyramidal absorber, with several roll-around panels for measurement-specific placement requirements.

 

The scanner has a large working area (~120" x ~240") that allows Z-axis post-processing correction via laser plane mapping during measurement. The scanner is also capable of commercial near-field/far-field and holographic processing. It has positioning accuracy of +/- 0.002" in all three planes. Additional azimuth axis positioner, software control, and processing are available for cylindrical near-field measurements.

Both local and automatic control is available for engineering/development requirements or for programmed extensive measurements for both planar and cylindrical near-field measurements. The probe polarization rotator on the scanner may be controlled manually or automatically during measurements. An auxiliary computer is available for processing prior measurements during current data acquisitions.
